Liposuction is a method that permanently removes unwanted fat from the underarms, abdomen, buttocks, thighs and hips. Liposuction is not a weight loss method, nor can you achieve weight loss with it. Liposuction successfully removes stubborn fat deposits that do not respond to diet or exercise and make certain parts of the body disproportionate and unattractive.
As a rule, the procedure is performed under general anesthesia or, more rarely, under local infiltration anesthesia if it is a question of smaller isolated zones such as the lower arm or the region around the knee. The duration of the procedure is between two and six hours, depending on the regions and the amount of fat to be removed.
